Yet amid Israel’s continuing security reality, many women have found themselves beneath a makeshift military chuppah, with the man they chose beside them in a dust-stained uniform. The “Achia” memorial project by JYL BRIDAL

Noa lived to give, volunteer and aim higher. Her sister Chen remembers her as light, nature and a ray of sun. “Little fabric, a lot of money” was her signature phrase; the gown is both meticulously classic and boldly exposed—exactly like Noa.

Shai Regev, 25

Shai was a journalist and editor-in-chief of TMI: determined, self-assured and always moving toward her goals. Her unpublished column was called “I.” The calla lily—noble, resilient and commanding—became the language of her gown, its silhouette shaped like unfolding petals.

Shani Gabay, 25

Shani completed her law degree with honors but never received the diploma. The gown’s structured center reflects her strength and stability; its layered sides speak of a nature-loving woman filled with joy, light and depth.

Maya Biton, 22

Maya was a gentle education student who loved quiet, the sea and Paris. Engaged to Eliran, she was meant to marry four months after Nova. Her gown unites the desert wedding she dreamed of with French restraint, turning boho romance toward the classical.

Eden Ben Ruby, 23

Eden belonged to life: parties, laughter, travel, friendship, India, surfing and the sea. The gown’s shell-like form honors her refuge by the water; flowing fabric expresses freedom, while frangipani flowers recall a bloom she loved.

Hili Solomon, 26

Hili was a colorful fashion designer and creator of festival label Ashkara. Her sister Tal later wore this gown at her wedding, wanting to feel Hili’s embrace. The design is delicate and classic, yet exposed, sparkling and made for the dance floor.

Sgt. Agam Naim, 20

Agam was a paramedic and combat soldier in the 401st Brigade. She loved running, the outdoors, skincare and pink. Long, generous tulle rests over a feminine gown, while concealed shorts symbolize the fighter within—strength and tenderness held in one silhouette.

Sgt. Achia Dascal, 19

The Achia Project

Sgt. Achia
Dascal, 19

On December 12, 2023, after an RPG wounded his platoon commander and fellow soldiers, Achia assumed command, directed the rescue and volunteered first to re-enter the building.

A second RPG killed him alongside his company commander and medic. He was posthumously promoted to Sergeant.

Seven lives translated into line, fabric and light. Not anonymous muses, but names, stories and futures that should have been. Fashion cannot restore what was taken. It can refuse to let memory disappear.

The “Achia” Memorial Project

Every Dress Has a Name

The “Achia” project is a memorial to Sgt. Achia Dascal, a Golani fighter and Israeli hero who fell in Shuja’iyya in December 2023. JYL BRIDAL—Jennifer, Lipaz and Yarin—chose to remember him through a singular journey from grief and pain toward light and life.

Over seven months, they created seven bridal gowns inspired by the lives of Eden Ben Ruby, Shani Gabay, Hili Solomon, Shai Regev, Maya Biton and Noa Zander, murdered at the Nova festival, and Sgt. Agam Naim, the first female soldier to fall in the war. May God avenge their blood.

“Tehilla,” after S. Y. Agnon

“At eleven, Tehilla was promised to twelve-year-old Shraga, whom she was to marry when he turned thirteen. The match was broken when her father rejected Shraga’s Hasidic family and tore up the betrothal agreement. Jewish tradition requires forgiveness to be sought from a groom after a broken engagement. Tehilla later married and had three children, but lost two of them, while her daughter converted to another faith. Only after these tragedies did she understand the broken match as a sin—and the suffering of her life as its punishment.”

Two exceptionally gifted fashion designers: Israel Mor marks 25 years of design, while Tomi Topiki celebrates 15. We spent a full day with them and were captivated by the extraordinary pieces taking shape around us.

From early morning into the smallest hours of the night, they do everything themselves: a true haute couture atelier built by two master designers.
